The Story of Clover Corridor Earrings
It was the year 1882, at Hopton Manor in the Cotswolds, England.
Isolde Heywood, the young daughter of the manor’s owner, loved wandering along the vine-covered corridor on the west side of the estate. Twisting vines climbed and coiled around the stone walls, forming layered winding passageways. A patch of clover grew at the end of the corridor, her favourite retreat.
During the Victorian era, the four-leaf clover was regarded as a rare, sacred symbol of good fortune. Isolde always dreamed of finding one elusive four-leaf clover. She met Edmund Page, a gifted young jeweller, at a summer ball hosted by the manor. The two often strolled the corridor together and shared their hopes. When Edmund heard the young lady’s wish, he promised to craft a piece of jewellery: an everlasting four-leaf clover that would never fade.
Edmund devoted himself to traditional Victorian filigree craftsmanship. Drawing inspiration from the winding vines of the corridor, he twisted metal into layered rope textures to recreate intertwined foliage. Progressive hollow rings mimicked the inward-stretching paths of the corridor, forming the silhouette of a four-leaf clover.
Small sparkling stones lined the edge of each petal, like starlight resting on tangled vines. A smooth pearl sat at the centre, representing Isolde’s gentle and pure heart. These earrings became his token of affection for her, named Clover Corridor.
Unfortunately, Isolde travelled to Scotland with her family soon after, and the pair were separated for a long time. The earrings were carefully preserved and passed down through generations.
