A Summer Memory of the MediterraneanIt all began in the summer of 2022, when our designer traveled to Cadaqués, a coastal town in Catalonia, Spain. Wandering the winding streets lined with whitewashed houses, she was captivated by the mosaic fragments embedded in old walls—echoes of Antoni Gaudí’s genius, where broken ceramic tiles were reborn into swirling, living patterns.

One afternoon, she sat in a sun-dappled garden overlooking the Mediterranean. A black butterfly danced between cornflowers and poppies, their vivid hues mirrored in the turquoise sea. In that moment, she wondered: What if we could capture this fleeting magic, this collision of art and nature, and wear it close to our hearts?

Crafting a Fragment of ParadiseBack in the studio, she set out to translate this memory into jewelry. She chose 925 sterling silver as the base—soft, hypoallergenic, and warm against the skin—then clad it in 14K gold plating to catch the light like the Mediterranean sun.

For the colors, she recreated the garden scene with hand-painted enamel: deep royal blue for cornflowers, fiery red for poppies, clear lake blue for the sea, and jet black for the butterfly’s wings. Each tiny color block is applied by hand, one by one, just as Gaudí laid his mosaic tiles—imperfect, alive, and full of soul.

The huggie hoop shape was deliberate: it wraps the ear like a gentle embrace, a reminder that beauty is meant to be worn, not just admired.
