Our jewelry designer Elodie spent a spring month wandering the cobblestone lanes of Lyon, France, a historic city filled with well-preserved old European townhouses. She had long been searching for a design that blends vintage texture and soft, quiet elegance, yet she could never find a satisfying inspiration until one quiet rainy afternoon.

While taking shelter under an ancient stone archway in Vieux Lyon—the old quarter of Lyon—Elodie looked up and noticed the antique wrought iron window grilles lining the residential buildings. Unlike sharp, rigid regular squares, these old window frames featured soft undulating wavy edges. The uneven, hand-crafted metal curves softened the stiff geometric outline, creating a wonderful contrast of structure and gentle organic lines. Sunlight peeked through light rain and fell on the glass panes, forming a round warm glow at the center of each wavy square frame. This peaceful, beautiful sight instantly became the blueprint of our pearl stud earrings.

Elodie wanted to recreate that tender glow she saw through the old French windows, so she placed a smooth round white pearl as the center focal point, standing for the soft sunlight behind the glass. A tiny sparkling crystal was set on one side of the gold frame, mimicking faint glittering raindrops clinging to wrought iron.

To restore the authentic retro metallic texture of European antique ironwork, each earring is built on solid S925 sterling silver and coated with thick 14K gold electroplating. Every wavy border is hand-polished one by one to retain the natural uneven hand-forged feel, never using overly sleek machine lines that lose vintage charm.

This design crosses the limits of age and gender. Its muted classic silhouette fits teens, adults and elders, suitable for casual daily outfits, office commutes, wedding ceremonies and evening parties alike. It carries a gentle message from Elodie’s trip in Lyon: even within fixed, regular frames of life, there is always soft warm light waiting for you to discover.
