Designer Lila Moore wandered along the Carvoeiro Coast in the Algarve, Portugal, late at midsummer night in 2022.At that time, she was stuck in a creative bottleneck. Almost all zircon hoop earrings on the market featured rigid, symmetrical stone settings. They looked polished yet stiff, lacking the effortless vibe people want for everyday wear. She dreamed of creating understated luxury hoops that suit all casual daily scenarios.

At 1 a.m., soft waves lapped against reef stones. A pale crescent moon hung low above the ocean, with stars scattered freely across the dark sky—some bright clusters, some faint tiny glimmers, no neat order at all. The starlight rippled gently with sea breeze. Lila sat on a rock watching the night view for half an hour, and the design concept suddenly came to her mind: she wanted to recreate this unrefined, natural coastal night sky.

Back to her studio, she abandoned classic fully symmetric stone layouts. The open C-shaped band mirrors the gentle curve of that coastal crescent moon. Crafted from hypoallergenic sterling silver with 14K gold plating, the polished chunky band flatters all face shapes.

She intentionally broke symmetrical inlay rules for the 3A cubic zirconia clusters, arranging each stone group by hand with random sizes and positions, just like drifting stars above the sea. When you turn your head, the zirconias reflect delicate multi-angle shimmer, subtle rather than gaudy.

To fix common flaws of chunky hoops—heavy weight and skin irritation for sensitive ears—Lila adjusted metal thickness dozens of times. The finished pair stays lightweight, comfortable enough for all-day wear to work, shopping or dates.
