She marveled at how simple straight lines could deliver such elegant, orderly texture, and made up her mind to translate this fan rib texture onto metal jewelry.
At the same time, she loved wandering along the beach and collecting spiral seashells. The natural, unbroken twisting curves of conch shells gave her another key idea: instead of fixing the fan shape into a static flat surface, twist multiple fan segments into a continuous flowing spiral. This way, the rigid linear texture of the fan could coexist harmoniously with the soft dynamic arcs of marine shells, balancing neat craftsmanship and natural fluidity.
Most fan-shaped jewelry on the market back then only copied a single flat fan outline, lacking dimensional layering and movement. The designer wanted to break this stereotype. She spent months adjusting the twisting radian and the density of radial ribs. Too few ribs would make the texture plain; overly tight twists would make the earrings heavy and uncomfortable to wear. She revised more than 20 prototypes to achieve the perfect lightweight spiral structure with evenly distributed fan rib lines.
